Oceanic Record-Holders Jess Hull and Stewart McSweyn Headline Australia’s Team for World Athletics Road Running Championships in Riga

As the highly anticipated World Athletics Road Running Championships in Riga rapidly approach on October 1st, the Australian team has been announced, featuring a formidable lineup led by Oceanian record-holders Jess Hull and Stewart McSweyn.

The duo, who previously teamed up to secure a bronze medal in the mixed relay at the World Cross Country Championships in Bathurst earlier this year, are set to make their third appearance in a global championship this season, having also competed at the World Championships in Budapest.

Hull, who already holds the continental records for the track mile (4:15.34) and 3000m (8:31.81), will be eyeing the Oceanian record for the road mile (4:32) when she takes to the streets of Riga. Likewise, McSweyn, the current area 3000m record holder (7:28.02), could potentially challenge Nick Willis’ 3:56.57, the fastest road mile ever achieved by an athlete from Oceania.

Joining Hull and McSweyn on the Australian team is Isobel Batt-Doyle, who also represented the nation in Bathurst and Budapest, this time competing in the half marathon event.

The full Australian team roster for the World Athletics Road Running Championships in Riga is as follows:
