Miltiadis Tentoglou Set to Kick Off 2024 Indoor Season at Czech Indoor Gala
As the world and Olympic long jump champion, Miltiadis Tentoglou is set to compete at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting in Ostrava, Czech Republic, on January 30th. The Greek jumper has enjoyed tremendous success in recent years, winning all three global titles as well as five continental crowns, both outdoors and indoors.
Tentoglou’s appearance at the Czech Indoor Gala will mark his season opener for 2024, and he’ll be aiming to better the meeting record of 8.21m that he set in 2018 when he was still a teenager. The 25-year-old is eager to get off to a strong start as he looks to defend his world indoor title.
“I’m looking forward to a successful start to the indoor season, which I would like to end with a successful defence of my world indoor title,” said Tentoglou, who will face stiff competition from Czech record-holder Radek Juska and rising talent Petr Meindlschmid.
Joining Tentoglou at the Czech Indoor Gala will be world 4x400m champion Lieke Klaver of the Netherlands. The two-time world 400m finalist is coming off a strong 2023 campaign, where she set a meeting record of 51.00 in Ostrava and won European indoor 400m silver. Klaver will take on a field that includes 2018 European champion Justyna Swiety-Ersetic, 2020 Czech Indoor Gala winner Lada Vondrova, world mixed 4x400m bronze medallist Tereza Petrzilkova, and European U20 champion Lurdes Gloria Manuel.
With a lineup of world-class athletes, the Czech Indoor Gala promises to be an exciting start to the 2024 indoor season for athletics enthusiasts.
