The Czech Indoor Gala: A Showcase of World-Class Athletics
The Czech Indoor Gala, part of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold, is set to return to Ostrava on January 30th, promising an exciting showcase of top-level athletics. Tina Sutej, the Slovenian pole vault sensation, will take on Switzerland’s Angelica Moser in a highly anticipated clash.
Sutej, the current meeting record-holder with a national record of 4.82m, will be aiming for her fourth consecutive title in Ostrava, having won the event in 2020, 2021, and earlier this year. Moser, the European indoor champion in 2021 and a top-five finisher at the World Championships in Budapest, will be determined to deny Sutej the victory and add another accolade to her impressive resume. The duo will be joined by local favorite Amalie Svabikova, who has been a regular at the Czech Indoor Gala since 2018, finishing second behind Sutej last year before setting a national record of 4.72m at the Czech Championships.
In the women’s 60m, Poland’s Ewa Swoboda will have her sights set on the meeting record of 7.10, which has stood since 2016. Swoboda, the European indoor 60m champion in 2019 and a two-time silver medalist in 2017 and 2023, will be looking to use her experience and impressive personal best of 6.99, set last year, to leave a lasting mark on the event.
“The Czech Indoor Gala promises to be a thrilling showcase of world-class athletics, with Sutej, Moser, Svabikova, and Swoboda set to captivate the audience with their exceptional performances.”
